Read Matthew 3:13-17. Why did Jesus need to be baptized? How does Isaiah 53:12 relate to this?

What do you think verse 17 meant to Jesus? How does this set the stage for His ministry to begin?

These ‘water’ moments, when the Lord speaks over you in a special way and encourages you big time, can be wonderful and powerful for the Believer to experience. Can you discuss a moment like this in your life?

Pastor Conor challenged the Church to look in the mirror in the mornings and say three things: “I am loved. I am a child of God. He is pleased with me.” What kind of a difference would that make in a person’s life to begin each day this way? In a way, how is this like Hebrews 3:13?

Read Matthew 4:1-11. What human need is at the heart of each temptation the enemy put before Jesus? How are these needs evident in your life? How does Satan use these to tempt you?

Remember the ‘snake in the bed with the lady‘ example? Now read Genesis 4:7. What is the warning, and how best do we defend ourselves from this attack?
