This page is to make you aware of an exciting opportunity available to Alpine Chapel due to changes happening within our church and Telluride’s Young Life program:
- Long-standing members Chad and Lesley Terry are moving to Gunnison. Lesley has served faithfully as the Children’s Ministry Director at The Alpine Chapel.
- Tucker and Casady Click, members who have had a major impact on the youth of Telluride during this last year, are moving back to Texas. Casady has been serving as the Young Life Leader for the Telluride region.
The loss of these two wonderful families; the Terrys and the Clicks, creates a significant deficiency in Alpine Chapel’s ability to minister to the youth of Telluride. However, because we are losing both our Children’s Ministry Director and Telluride’s Young Life Leader at the same time, an opportunity arises for Alpine Chapel. By combining the salaries of the Young Life Leader and the Children’s Ministry Director, Alpine Chapel, in conjunction with Young Life, is in a position to hire a full time seasoned Associate Pastor to fill both roles.
Alpine Chapel desires to find a very well qualified and experienced Associate Pastor to work with our Senior Pastor to minister to the children and youth in Telluride. We have already identified two highly qualified candidates. However, our biggest challenge to successfully recruiting a seasoned Associate Pastor is the lack of available housing.
UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 19th: The home we were considering is proving to be one that we probably are not going to be able to purchase, due to outside forces having to do with the ‘deed restriction’ in that particular neighborhood. Please continue to pray with us for God’s perfect will to be accomplished. As you may know, home prices in Telluride are very expensive. We are continuing to look into other options and are excited about them! Also the church membership voted on Sunday, August 18th, to bring Conor and Diana Craft to Telluride as our new ‘Next Generation Pastor’. Conor, alongside his wife, will oversee all ministries to those between the cradle and college. He has also been hired by Young Life to be the main Young Life Director for the city of Telluride!
Although Alpine Chapel is financially healthy, it cannot purchase the new parsonage outright. We foresee a combination of Alpine Chapel funds, newly raised funds and a mortgage if necessary will be required.
The opportunity for Alpine Chapel to purchase an additional parsonage and provide a long-term home for our Senior Pastor has caused great excitement and inspiration to those of us on the Leadership Council. We were very excited to let folks know that Alpine Chapel has put a home under contract that we hope will be our new parsonage for our Senior Pastor and his family, however, there have been some speed-bumps related to this particular home (please read paragraph five). There are two primary reasons we have been pursuing this purchase:
- The new property will provide our Senior Pastor a more suitable home for his family, guests and selected church social functions. The Senior Pastor and his family are now living in the apartment above the church.
- With the growth of our church the need has risen for an associate pastor that can oversee all ministries to the next generation, those under the age of 18. We feel it is of utmost importance to invest into the next generation. The new home for the Senior Pastor will free up the apartment above the church to provide housing for a new associate pastor – available housing is critical to successfully recruiting top tier candidates.
We need your support to make our efforts come to fruition.
Although Alpine Chapel is financially more healthy than ever and blessed to have no debt, it will not be possible for Alpine Chapel to go forward with the purchase of the new parsonage without significant pledges from members, supporters and friends of the church.
Our goal is to raise at least half the cost of the parsonage from members, friends and other supporters of The Alpine Chapel to allow us to go forward with the purchase of the home. It would be a tremendous blessing for the church if we raised all of the finances, but we are prepared to take out a mortgage if we reach our minimum fundraising goals.
We are very excited to share that we have already received over $400,000 in pledges! Praise the Lord! Please pray for the acquisition of the new parsonage and if it is on your heart please make a pledge specifically toward this goal. Please also reach out to others whom you believe may want to help us with this campaign. Ultimately, this is to reach the next generation in the Telluride region for Christ! To make a pledge towards this effort please fill out the few questions at the bottom of this page and simply click ‘SUBMIT’. Do not give the money on our GIVE section of this website, but rather simply fill out the form below and we will contact you. Thank You SO MUCH for your faithfulness!
If you make a donation for the new parsonage and we do not go forward in a timely basis with an acquisition then your donation will be fully refunded. As always, all donations to The Alpine Chapel are tax deductible, because we are a 501c3 organization.
