The following is a letter sent out to the church on October 9th, 2019:
Dear Alpine Chapel Family,
We are excited to share with you that Alpine Chapel has contracted a very nice three-bedroom house in Ski Ranches to serve as our new parsonage. Pastor Michael and Kelli recently toured the home and could not be more excited. It has been quite a journey with several closed doors to other properties but we are confident this is the parsonage God is providing for us.
We have several weeks of standard due diligence on the property. The home appears to be in excellent shape and we aren’t expecting any significant negative reports. We are scheduled to close on the property in late November.
Our original intention was to purchase a deed-restricted home in Lawson Hill. Town regulations prohibited us from that purchase and we turned to the free market. As you know, free market homes are significantly more expensive than deed restricted homes. Therefore, we need to raise additional funds to proceed with the purchase of the parsonage in Ski Ranches. Below is a brief outline of our financial position.
Purchase Price – $1,350,000
Original Pledges received – $550,000
Alpine Chapel Loan – $400,000
New Pledges since contracting – $180,000
Additional Pledges Required – $220,000
We are asking all members of the Alpine Chapel family to consider making a pledge to financially support the new parsonage. Our goal 100% participation. No pledge is too small.
For those who have already pledged, thank you for your generous contributions. Prayerfully consider if increasing your pledge is possible to help Alpine Chapel provide a permanent home for our pastor and his family. To submit a donation, please follow the directions below: Note it is imperative to write “Parsonage” on the memo line of your check or place a check in an envelope marked “Parsonage.” We ask that you do not use the online giving option, as this service takes a small percentage of the donated amount.
How to Pledge
Option One: Place your check in the offering boxes at church
Option Two: Mail your check to the following:
- The Alpine Chapel – Attention: Parsonage
- PO Box 2701 . Telluride, CO 81435
Please attend our church business meeting immediately following the service on Sunday, October 20th to hear more details about the parsonage and all the exciting things God is doing in our beautiful little town. If you are unable to attend, please watch online. We will also be voting to add Mitch Stanfield as an official member of the Leadership Council.

OTHER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Where Are The Pastors Living Now?
On September 2nd, Pastor Conor and Diana Craft moved into the apartment above the worship center at church. Pastor Michael, Kelli, and Merci have moved into a temporary home, that has been graciously provided by some of our church family, while a church parsonage is being sought and purchased.
Why Is Getting A Parsonage In The Area So Important?
It would be possible for our pastors to live further away from the church, as some have suggested, such as Montrose, Ridgeway. It would definitely be “cheaper”. However, we have felt that it is important that the Shepherd we’ve asked to lead our “flock” lives near us. We don’t want a weekend “preacher”, we want a full-time “pastor”. As most of us know, homes in the Telluride region are extremely expensive. Although Alpine Chapel is financially more healthy than ever and blessed to have no debt, it will not be possible for Alpine Chapel to go forward with the purchase of the new parsonage without significant pledges from members, supporters and friends of the church. This is why the “ask”.
Are Financial Gifts Tax-Deductible?
All donations to The Alpine Chapel are tax deductible, because we are a 501c3 organization.
What If The Plan Changes?
If you make a donation for the new parsonage and we do not go forward in a timely basis with an acquisition then your donation will be fully refunded.
What House Is The Church Looking At Purchasing?
189 Deer Park Lane – Telluride, Colorado (Ski Ranches).
Why This Home?
The house is beautiful, but not overly-extravagant. Price is a relative thing, and although some would consider this home expensive, truthfully, it is priced in the lower range among homes in the Telluride area (We were looking for something within 5-10 miles of the church). Much prayer, time, and research has gone into finding this particular home. We feel it is not only a wise investment, it is also something that the church will benefit from greatly. Our pastor LOVES it, but future pastors will also be blessed to live in this home. We feel much ministry can take place in this lovely home and we see it as an investment into the Kingdom of God.
